Send The Movie Hour to LA to meet Quentin Tarantino

Your buddies at The Movie Hour have been invited to the official press The Wienstien Company junket of the new Tarantino film, Inglorious Basterds.

Little Movie Hour is growing up.

As we (and you) watch the show grow, this opportunity makes us excited on many levels.

This post is the first time, then, that we've panhandled so obnoxiously.

We're not a big newspaper with a travel budget. We're three guys in TX who, while giddy at the thought, live within realistic household budgets.

Over to the right (scroll down) is our PayPal link. If you'd like to hear our The Inglorious Basterd Press Junket episode(s), head over there and throw in a couple bucks. We will bring you the interviews with the filmmakers, of course, but we will also record EVERYTHING and give you an inside look at what a junket is, isn't, and what happens.

If you have any questions, please email us at feedback@themoviehour.com Thanks.

Magical Oddities: Listener Suggestions

Episode 22's LRFF theme is Magic/Fantasy movies. Here are a couple from listeners who responded to Ethan's call for some off the beaten path.

Jeff suggested "Something Weird" from 1967 which features, he says, "a witch...and LSD...and hypnotism...and electrically induced clairvoyance."

Andrew suggested a slew of 1980s Indonesian magic/fantasy films such as "Queen of Black Magic." Check it out, but don't "lose your head" over it. That's my bad joke, not his.

In The Electric Mist - Sighting in Paris, France

Michele wrote in to us after she and her family watched In The Electric Mist with her family in Paris. She writes:

"Paris is not my neighborhood, but I was there last week. My family went to see
into the Electric Mist. We loved the movie and happened to hear the podcast right after seeing it. (My 13 year old son is now listening too.)

My husband and I both loved the book and found the movie to be a good adaption. The only thing it lacked was the smell of Louisiana. But why was Mary Steenburgen this movie? She could not even do a southern accent and she is from Arkansas."

Thanks Michele for the great email and pictures.

Late LRFF Entry

Episode 20's Living Room Film Festival theme is New Orleans/Louisiana movies. Andrew's suggestions slipped in after we recorded the show, but they were good so were putting them up here:

I second the "Cat People" remake. Clint Eastwood's "Tightrope" is an equally sleazy slice of Nawlins. There were also a couple of great noir movies from the 1950s set in NO: "Nightmare" and "Panic in the Streets". And for pure Louisiana grindhouse trash, you can't go wrong with Claudia Jennings in "Gator Bait" or Lucio Fulci's "The Beyond".

As always, we love getting these suggestions. Keep 'em comin'.
